Lal Mahal im Überblick
The first Lal Mahal was built in 1630 by Dadoji Kondadev. Shivaji spent his boyhood here, married Saibai here in 1640, and in 1663 raided the Mughal general Shaista Khan in this house, leaving him without his fingers.
The building you see was raised by the Pune Municipal Corporation between 1984 and 1988 as a memorial, with the Jijamata garden beside it.
