Sinhagad Fort: Das können Sie erleben

Führungen

Sinhagad Fort im Überblick

Sinhagad, once called Kondhana, stands at about 1,300 m on the Sahyadri hills south-west of Pune. In 1670 Tanaji Malusare retook it for Shivaji and died in the battle, remembered in the line "Gad ala, pan Sinha gela": the fort is won, but the lion is gone.

A road climbs to a car park near the top. From there you walk through the Pune Darwaza to the Tanaji memorial, Rajaram's samadhi, the Kalyan Darwaza and viewpoints over the hills and Khadakwasla lake. Stalls near the top sell pithla-bhakri, kanda bhaji and buttermilk.
