The parikrama. A parikrama is a walk around a sacred place, keeping it on your right. Vrindavan's follows the Parikrama Marg around the old town; estimates of its length run from about 6 to 10 km. Devotees walk it on Ekadashi and through Kartik (October–November). This tour walks the finest riverside section, about 3 km, and covers the rest by e-rickshaw.
What you'll see. From ISKCON you walk to the start of the path by the Krishna-Balaram tree, then on past Gautam Rishi Ashram and the Madan Mohan temple, linked with the saint Sanatana Goswami, to Keshi Ghat. Beyond the ghat come Imli Tala and Shringar Vat. Then an e-rickshaw carries you on past the Tekari Rani and Jagannath temples and Tatiya Sthan, and back to ISKCON.
A morning pace. Starting at 07:00 keeps you ahead of the heat and the crowds, while the temples along the way are open. The lanes are narrow and uneven, shared with cows, scooters and monkeys, so your guide keeps an easy pace with regular stops.
