The Peshwas' city by car. Pune's sights are spread from Parvati Hill in the south to the old peths by the river. A car links them in comfort, and you walk where the lanes are too narrow to drive. Your guide picks you up at your hotel at 09:00.
Parvati and Shaniwar Wada. A long stone stairway leads up Parvati Hill to the Devdeveshwar temple, completed in 1749 under Balaji Bajirao, with a small Peshwa museum and views across the city. Then on to Shaniwar Wada, the palace Bajirao I finished in 1732, where the Peshwa era ended with Bajirao II's surrender in 1818.
Markets and tastings. Leaving the car near Kasba Ganpati and Lal Mahal, you walk past Dagdusheth Ganpati into the lanes of Tulshibaug and the Mandai, Pune's covered market of 1882–86, tasting misal and local snacks on the way. The tour ends with Vishrambaug Wada's carved façade and a mastani before the drive back.
Good to know. Entry tickets (Shaniwar Wada, the Parvati museum) are not included. Vishrambaug Wada is closed on Mondays, when you see its façade from the street.
