Banke Bihari Temple : que faire sur place

Visites guidées · 3

Banke Bihari Temple en bref

The Goswami family built Banke Bihari around 1862–64 for the image of Krishna that the 16th-century saint Swami Haridas first worshipped in Nidhivan. Krishna is honoured here as a child, so there is no early-morning aarti and no ringing of bells, and a curtain is drawn across the shrine every few minutes during darshan.

The temple stands at the end of narrow market lanes that vehicles cannot enter, so expect a short walk. Crowds are heaviest at weekends and at Janmashtami and Holi; since 2025 a court-appointed committee has extended darshan hours and set up railed queues.

À savoir avant de partir

  • Footwear and leather items are not allowed in or around the temple
  • The temple restricts phones, electronic gadgets and umbrellas; photography inside is not allowed
  • Entry is free; queues use the railed entry and exit gates
  • Watch your belongings: pickpockets and monkeys work the crowds
