About Casa de Pilatos
Pedro Enríquez and Catalina de Ribera bought the houses here in 1483, and the Mudéjar palace was built by about 1505. In the 1530s the 1st Marquis of Tarifa added the staircase tower and covered the ground-floor walls with tiles, which is why the courtyard still glows with colour.
The house was declared a National Monument in 1931 and is run by the foundation of the Dukes of Medinaceli. The ticket covers the ground floor and gardens with an audio guide in seven languages; the upper floor is a separate ticket.
