About this ticket
Gaudí's apartment block of 1906–1912 on Passeig de Gràcia, from its open courtyards up to an attic of 270 brick arches and a roof of 29 chimneys.
- Walk the rooftop among Gaudí's helmeted chimneys and stair towers, with Sagrada Família in view
- Explore the attic's brick catenary arches, now an exhibition on how Gaudí designed
- Step into a period apartment furnished as a well-off family's home in the early 1900s
- Look up from the open courtyards at the building's undulating, plant-like structure
What you'll see
- The courtyards: the Flower and Butterfly courtyards, which bring light and air to every flat
- The attic: 270 brick catenary arches that hold up the roof without buttresses, with an exhibition on how Gaudí worked
- The rooftop: 6 stairwell exits, 29 chimneys and 2 ventilation towers above the city; closed in rain
- The apartment: a furnished flat that shows how a well-off family lived here in the early 20th century

The story
Pere Milà and Roser Segimon commissioned the house, and Gaudí's plans went to the City Council on 2 February 1906. Stone pillars and brick let him drop load-bearing walls, so the wavy front of more than 6,000 stone blocks is a curtain wall that carries no load. Gaudí certified the work complete on 31 October 1912.
In 1953 the attic was turned into 14 small flats. UNESCO listed the building on 2 November 1984, Caixa Catalunya bought it in December 1986, and after a full restoration it opened as a cultural centre in June 1996.
