- Gatehouses: the 2 pavilions at the Carrer d'Olot gate, seen from outside; going inside needs the separate Porter's Lodge ticket
- Dragon Stairway: 3 flights with a fountain, the Catalan emblem halfway up and the tile-mosaic dragon, or salamander, near the top
- Hypostyle Room: 86 fluted columns inspired by the Doric order, built for the estate's weekly market, under small domes with Jujol's tile mosaics
- Nature Square: the great terrace over the city, edged by a long undulating bench that carries rainwater to a tank below
- The viaducts: stone viaducts on rows of leaning columns, part of the 3 km of paths Gaudí laid out across the hillside

- Hours
- Slots from 9:30 every day. The park closes at 17:30 from late October to early February, 18:00 until late March and 19:30 the rest of the year.
- Getting in
- Enter up to 30 minutes after your slot time; later arrivals are refused. Once you leave there is no re-entry.
- Getting there
- Metro L3 Lesseps or Vallcarca, then about 20 minutes uphill helped by escalators. Bus H6 or D40 to Travessera de Dalt, then about 10 minutes.
- Works
- Works close the paths from Coll del Portell to the Forat del Vent stairway and from Forat del Vent to Casa Trias. Follow the signed routes.
- Ages
- Children 4–17 pay the child price; bring ID. Under-4s go free.
The story
Eusebi Güell planned a garden city of 60 houses on the bare hill then called Muntanya Pelada, with Gaudí as his architect. Work began in October 1900, but by 1914 it had stopped with only 2 of the houses built.
Barcelona City Council agreed to buy the estate on 26 May 1922 and opened it as a municipal park in 1926. It was recognised as an artistic monument in 1969, and UNESCO listed it in 1984 among the Works of Antoni Gaudí.
Josep Maria Jujol, one of Gaudí's assistants, covered the small domes of the Hypostyle Room with broken-tile mosaic. Rain on the square above drains through the bench into a tank under the hall, and the overflow spills from the dragon's mouth.
