What you'll see. The Bargello is Florence's museum of sculpture. On the ground floor, the Michelangelo Room gathers his Bacchus, Brutus and Pitti Tondo with Renaissance works by Cellini and Giambologna, including the winged Mercury. Upstairs, the vaulted Salone di Donatello, reopened in 2025, holds the bronze David, St George and the two trial panels for the Baptistery doors.
Beyond the big names. The upper floors cover ivories, enamels, Islamic metalwork, Medici bronzes and glazed terracottas by the della Robbia family. The building itself is part of the visit: begun in 1255 as the seat of the city's government, it later held the police chief and the prison.
How your ticket works. Pick a date and entry time. Tickets are issued in each visitor's name, so we need everyone's full name at booking, and staff may check ID at the door. Your audio guide is included and access details are sent with your ticket.
Good to know. During 2026 the entrance, courtyard and Michelangelo Room are being refurbished, and the base of Cellini's Perseus is being restored in view of visitors. Routes may change and individual works may be moved for a time.

Know before you go
- Closed Mondays, 1 January and 25 December.
- Tickets are named: give each traveller's full name at booking and carry ID.
- Bags over 40 × 30 × 18 cm aren't allowed; there are small lockers but no cloakroom.
- Under-18s enter free, so the child price covers the reservation and audio guide.
- Refurbishment in 2026 may close or rearrange some rooms.
- The ticket office closes 40 minutes before the museum.
