About this ticket
- The tombs of Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli and Rossini, and Dante's memorial
- Giotto's St Francis frescoes in the Bardi Chapel, newly restored in 2026
- Brunelleschi's Pazzi Chapel, off the first cloister
- Cimabue's Crucifix, restored after the 1966 Arno flood
What you'll see. The nave is lined with tombs and memorials to Florence's famous names: Michelangelo's, designed by Vasari, Galileo's, Machiavelli's and Rossini's. Look for Donatello's stone Annunciation on the right wall, and the chapels at the far end, painted by Giotto and his followers.
Giotto, restored. The Bardi Chapel's scenes from the life of St Francis were presented in September 2026 after four years of restoration. Next door, the Peruzzi Chapel shows his lives of St John the Baptist and St John the Evangelist.
Cloisters and museum. Through the cloister, Brunelleschi's Pazzi Chapel is all calm grey stone and white plaster geometry. The former refectory holds Taddeo Gaddi's Last Supper, and Cimabue's Crucifix, badly damaged when the Arno flooded in 1966, is shown in the complex after its restoration.
