The story
UNESCO added fado, the urban popular song of Portugal, to its list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity in 2011, describing a music born in Lisbon's older neighbourhoods.
A fado is usually sung by one voice, the fadista, with the Portuguese guitar and an acoustic guitar. The Fado Museum in Alfama tells its story.
