The story
From the river, Lisbon shows the face sailors saw coming home: Belém, where the voyages of the 15th and 16th centuries set out, the city climbing its hills, and Alfama below the castle.
Belém Tower and the Jerónimos Monastery, listed by UNESCO in 1983, stand on the shore the boat sails past.
