What you'll see. A live flamenco show of about an hour in a tablao in central Madrid. A singer and a guitarist set the rhythm, and the dancers answer with footwork, turns and sharp lines of the arms. Expect several pieces in different palos, or styles, from the slow, deep soleá to the bright alegrías and the fast, playful bulerías.
Flamenco in three parts. Flamenco grew up in Andalusia and joined UNESCO's list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity in 2010. It rests on cante, the song; toque, the guitar; and baile, the dance, held together by compás, the rhythmic cycle, with palmas (handclaps) and shouts of encouragement from the stage. Much of it is shaped in the moment, so no two nights are quite the same.
The tablao. A tablao is a small venue built around a wooden stage, with tables close enough to hear every heel strike. Madrid has long been one of flamenco's great stages, and legends such as Camarón de la Isla and Paco de Lucía played its tablaos. The name and address of your tablao are on your voucher.
Drinks and children. The Show option is the performance only. Choose Show + 1 drink and adults (18+) get a glass of wine, a beer, sangria or a soft drink; children get a soft drink. Children are welcome with an adult, though the later show runs past bedtime for little ones. Photos and video are usually not allowed during the performance.
Tablao address on your voucher (central Madrid)
The tablao's name and exact address come with your voucher; it is in central Madrid. Please arrive 30 minutes before the show to check in and take your seat.
