About this experience
- Walk from the Duomo to the canals as Milan slips into its evening rhythm
- Stand among the 16 Roman columns of San Lorenzo, a favourite evening meeting spot
- Cruise the Naviglio Grande and the Darsena, Milan's old harbour, for about 50 minutes
- Find Vicolo dei Lavandai, where old stone wash troughs still line the canal
What you'll see. Your guide meets you in Piazza del Duomo and leads you south through the old city: down Via Torino to the Roman columns of San Lorenzo, then through the medieval Porta Ticinese. You reach the Darsena, Milan's old harbour, just as the canal-side bars begin to fill.
On the water. On the Naviglio Grande you board a canal boat for about 50 minutes, gliding past old tenement houses and the washerwomen's lane before turning through the Darsena basin. Your guide explains how marble for the Duomo came into the city by water, and why Milan once had a port.
After the cruise. Back on land, you stroll the Naviglio Grande to Vicolo dei Lavandai, then finish by the canal with tips for aperitivo and dinner nearby. The tour ends here, so you can stay on for the evening.
Good to know. Groups are capped at 15 travellers. The walk covers about 3 km on flat streets and some cobbles. The cruise follows the boat operator's seasonal timetable and canal maintenance schedules; if it can't run on your date, we contact you before the tour.
