About Setas de Sevilla

The architect Jürgen Mayer H. won the competition for Plaza de la Encarnación in 2004, and the Metropol Parasol, which Sevillanos call the Setas, the mushrooms, opened in 2011. Lifts take you from the lower level to walkways that wind across the timber roof to a 360° viewpoint.

Underneath, the Antiquarium shows what the works uncovered: Roman houses of the 1st to 6th centuries with their mosaics, and an Almohad house of the 12th and 13th centuries, seen from raised walkways.

Know before you go

  • About 90% of the route is accessible, but the viewpoint itself is reached by steps
  • Only guide dogs, or dogs under 5 kg in a carrier, on the walkways
  • Re-entry within 48 hours, subject to space, except at sunset
