About Barcelona Cathedral

Work on the cathedral began in 1298 and the Gothic interior took about 150 years. The ornate front facing Pla de la Seu came much later, completed between 1887 and 1913. It is dedicated to the Holy Cross and Saint Eulàlia, Barcelona's co-patron, whose tomb lies in the crypt below the altar.

The tourist visit takes in the cloister, where 13 white geese live around a 15th-century fountain, one for each year of Eulàlia's life. You also see the choir stalls painted with the arms of the Knights of the Golden Fleece, the chapter house museum, and the rooftop, reached by lift.
