Things to do at Cascais

Guided tours

About Cascais

From 1870 Cascais became the summer resort of the Portuguese royal family, who stayed at the Cidadela. The old town runs down to Praia dos Pescadores, the fishermen's beach, and the marina, with 650 berths, lies behind the Cidadela.

A short way west along the coast road, the sea has carved the rocks of Boca do Inferno into an open arch that Atlantic waves crash through, most dramatically on stormy days. Cascais is the end of the train line from Lisbon's Cais do Sodré.
