About Musée de l'Armée

Louis XIV founded Les Invalides in 1670 as a home for wounded soldiers. Its Dome church, finished in 1706 to designs by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, has sheltered Napoleon's tomb since 1861: a red quartzite sarcophagus set in an open crypt.

The same ticket covers the army museum's collections, from medieval armour to the two world wars, plus the Musée des Plans-Reliefs, with its 18th-century scale models of fortified towns, and the Musée de l'Ordre de la Libération.
