- About 2.5 km on pavements and some cobbles, with stops to stand and listen. Wear comfortable shoes.

- The guide leaves you at the Tower; allow 3 hours. Yeoman Warder tours are included, every 45 minutes until 15:15. Entry is once only.
- Bags
- Suitcases and large or wheeled bags aren't allowed in the Tower, and there's no left luggage.

The story
Guildhall Yard stands on Roman London's amphitheatre, first built around AD 70 and found in 1988; a curved line of dark stones in the paving marks its outer wall. After the Great Fire of 1666, Christopher Wren and Robert Hooke built the Monument in 1671–1677, a column about 61 metres tall near the Pudding Lane bakery where the fire began.
Leadenhall Market's present hall is by Sir Horace Jones, 1881. William the Conqueror began the Tower of London in the 1070s, and in 1240 Henry III had the keep painted white, which gave the White Tower its name. UNESCO listed the Tower in 1988.
