The walk. Start beside the Comédie-Française and step into the Palais-Royal, built for Cardinal Richelieu, where Buren's striped columns fill the courtyard. Cross into the Louvre's Cour Carrée, out onto the Pont des Arts, then back through the Carrousel garden to the Pyramid. It's about an hour on foot, with plenty of stops.
Inside the Louvre. Your guide leads you through the Denon wing: the Winged Victory on the Daru staircase, the Grande Galerie of Italian painting and the Mona Lisa in the Salle des États. Then on to the Venus de Milo and, where open, the newly reopened Galerie d'Apollon. You have about two hours inside, and you can stay on after the tour ends.
Current closures. Several Louvre galleries are closed for renovation in 2026, including the Napoleon III Apartments and the Galerie Campana, and some rooms close at short notice. Your guide adjusts the route on the day.
Good to know. The Louvre is closed on Tuesdays, so this tour doesn't run that day. Security at the Pyramid is airport-style, and large bags are refused. Wear comfortable shoes: you'll walk about 3 km in total, much of it on museum floors.
